  • Constant worry that is hard to turn off, even when things are fine

  • Avoiding situations, places, or people because they feel too overwhelming

  • Physical symptoms like a racing heart, tightness in the chest, or trouble sleeping

  • Panic attacks or sudden waves of intense fear

  • Children or teens refusing school, social events, or new experiences out of fear

  • Persistent fears or phobias that are getting worse over time

  • OCD-like patterns such as repetitive thoughts or compulsive behaviors

  • Social anxiety that limits relationships, work, or daily functioning

  • Anxiety tied to a major life transition, pregnancy, or postpartum period

  • Worry and stress affecting your relationship or family dynamic

Anxiety is one of the most treatable mental health conditions. Our therapists use proven methods that produce real, lasting results.

How we treat anxiety

Our therapists do not use a one-size-fits-all approach. Treatment is matched to your specific type of anxiety, your age, and your goals.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

CBT identifies the unhelpful thought patterns that fuel anxiety and teaches practical tools to respond differently. It is highly effective for generalized anxiety, social anxiety, panic disorder, and mood concerns. Through CBT, clients learn to reduce distress, improve problem-solving, and build healthier thinking habits.

Exposure Therapy for Children and Adults

A structured, evidence-based approach that gradually builds tolerance and confidence when facing fears and anxious situations. For children, it is adapted using play, creativity, and family involvement. For adults, it focuses on breaking the cycle of fear and avoidance. Available for both children and adults at CT Counseling Group.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

DBT builds skills across four key areas: mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness. It is especially helpful when anxiety is accompanied by intense emotions or difficulty coping with distress. Our therapists hold DBT certifications and have clinical experience applying it across diverse populations.

Client-Centered and Solution-Focused Therapy

A warm, collaborative approach that builds on your existing strengths and focuses on what is working. Often combined with CBT and other evidence-based methods to create a personalized plan that reflects your unique needs and goals.

Expressive Arts Therapy

Integrates creative tools as a therapeutic approach to help clients process anxiety, stress, and difficult emotions. Particularly effective for children, teens, and those who connect more naturally with creative expression than traditional talk therapy.

Play Therapy

Designed for younger children, play therapy uses natural play to help kids communicate fears, process anxiety, and build coping skills in a developmentally appropriate and engaging way.
