Dr. Christy DaBreo-Otero is a licensed clinical psychologist and supervisor who values
creating supportive, collaborative spaces where both clients and clinicians can grow.
She earned her Ph.D. from St. John’s University, completed her predoctoral internship
at Kings County Hospital Center, and later completed a postdoctoral fellowship at
Barnard College’s Rosemary Furman Counseling Center, where she went on to serve
as Associate Director. In that role, she supervised masters and doctoral-level trainees,
provided individual and group therapy, managed referral services, and developed
outreach and wellness programming for the campus community.
Her clinical interests include identity development, life transitions, anxiety and mood
disorders, trauma and ADHD. Her approach to therapy and supervision is warm,
thoughtful, culturally responsive, and tailored to each person. She draws from CBT,
DBT, multicultural, and psychodynamic approaches, while also incorporating
mindfulness, grounding, and relaxation practices. She is especially passionate about
supporting clients as they navigate complex systems, reconnect with their strengths,
and feel more empowered to advocate for their needs.
