Depression is a medical condition, not a personal failure. It is also highly treatable. Our therapists use proven approaches to help you understand what is driving your depression and build a path forward.
How we treat depression
Our therapists use evidence-based approaches tailored to your specific symptoms, history, and goals. No single method works for everyone, and your treatment plan is personalized from the start.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
CBT is one of the most well-researched and effective treatments for depression. It identifies the negative thought patterns that reinforce low mood and teaches practical tools to challenge and reframe those patterns. CBT also addresses avoidance behaviors that keep depression locked in place.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
DBT builds four core skill sets: mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness. It is especially effective when depression is accompanied by intense emotions, self-criticism, relationship difficulties, or a history of trauma. Our therapists hold DBT certifications and apply it across a range of presentations.

Person-Centered and Solution-Focused Therapy
A warm, collaborative approach built around your strengths and what you want your life to look like. Often combined with CBT and other evidence-based methods to create a personalized plan. This approach is especially effective for depression related to life transitions, identity, or relationship challenges.
Expressive Arts Therapy
Integrates creative tools as a therapeutic approach for clients who connect more naturally with creative expression than traditional talk therapy. Effective for depression, grief, and emotional processing across all age groups.
Play Therapy
For younger children experiencing depression, play therapy uses natural play to help them communicate feelings, process low mood, and build coping skills in a developmentally appropriate way.
Trauma-Informed Care
Many people experiencing depression have a history of trauma that underlies or worsens their symptoms. Our therapists are trained in trauma-informed approaches and address the root causes of depression, not just the surface symptoms.
Who we treat
We provide depression counseling for individuals at every stage of life, as well as for couples and families affected by depression.
Children (Ages 3 and Up)
Low mood, school refusal, withdrawal, and behavioral changes addressed with child-specific approaches including play therapy and exposure-based methods adapted for younger clients.
Teens and Adolescents
Depression during adolescence often shows up as irritability, academic decline, social withdrawal, and changes in sleep and appetite. We work with teens using approaches designed for their developmental stage and the specific pressures they face.
Young Adults
Depression related to college transitions, career uncertainty, identity, relationship challenges, and life direction. Goal-oriented therapy that helps young adults build momentum and reconnect with their values.
Adults
Major depressive disorder, persistent depressive disorder (dysthymia), situational depression, and depression co-occurring with anxiety, trauma, or substance use. Evidence-based treatment tailored to your history and goals.
Couples
Depression that affects communication, intimacy, and connection in a relationship. Couples therapy that supports both partners and helps restore the relationship alongside individual healing.
Families
Family sessions to address how depression is affecting household dynamics, parent-child relationships, and communication across generations.
Women's Mental Health
Specialized support for depression related to pregnancy, postpartum changes, hormonal transitions, infertility, and the unique stressors women face at different life stages.
